How is Pulsed Light different from
a laser?
Pulsed light systems and lasers are very similar. The Pulsed
Light System uses a newer technology that allows it to remove hair
up to 10 times faster than lasers.
Pulsed-light systems work by emitting pulses of intense lamplight into
the hair follicles. The light is absorbed by the pigment in the follicles
and converted to heat. The heat then loosens the hair and disables
the follicular cells responsible for growing new hair.
Does it hurt?
Most people perceive the light as a gentle "snapping" sensation.
Most people experience some mild redness and tenderness in the treated
area shortly after.
What are the treatment sessions like?
Quick and easy! After your initial preparation, your treatment provider
will move a wand-like hand-piece over your skin. The hand piece emits
the light that disables the hair follicles. We will wipe away any
loose hair from your skin, and you're ready to go.

confidential online form and you will get your results back in an email within 24 hours.
How many treatments?
Every individual will need at least 5-8 laser treatments, but some
might need more in order to maximize results. Skin tone, hair coloring and
coarseness of hair are all contributing factors to how many treatments will
be needed.
How long does the procedure take?
Smaller areas- such
as the underarms, upper lip, or bikini line- can be treated in about
five minutes. A woman's legs or a man's back can be treated in only
about 30-45 minutes!
What areas can be treated?
All areas except directly around the eyes can be treated including:
Abdomen
Back
Beard with Throat
Breast (Areola)
Buttocks
Cheeks
Chin
Ears
Eyebrows
Feet
Forehead

Electrology Frequently Asked Questions
What is Electrolysis?
Electrolysis is the process of permanent hair removal. It eliminates
the
source of nourishment to the hair making its growth impossible. In
brief,
the procedure involves the insertion of a fine probe conductor (disposable
needle) into the hair follicle (natural skin opening), brief application
of
heat (current), and the epilation (removal) of the treated hair.
With
repeated treatments, the hair papilla becomes dehydrated, no longer
enabling
it to nourish the hair, therefore preventing any hair from growing.
By
confining the application of current to the papilla, the electrologist
provides effective treatment while preserving the surface tissue.
Any person
who is a diabetic, wears a pacemaker, or has a blood coagulation
disorder
needs to supply the electrologist with a note from his/her physician
prior
to treatment.
Unwanted Hair - The Causes
Unwanted hair can be caused by a number of factors ranging from normal
physiological changes, heredity, medicines, diseases and even simple
stress.
Patients should be aware of the causes of their unwanted hair problem,
and
the only way to be certain of the nature of your particular case
is too seek
out the advice of a true health care professional.
All well - trained
electrologists are taught to recognize the above - mentioned symptoms,
some
of which may necessitate referral to a physician, others of which
can be
alleviated by an electrologist.
Why Electrolysis?
There are many reasons why you may want to consider electrology.
You will
see the improvement of your skin with each electrolysis treatment.
Conventional methods of hair removal (tweezing, waxing, shaving,
depilitators) can cause hair to become ingrown, skin calloused, infected,
and irritated. Since these common hair removal techniques do not
permanently
eliminate the hair, and only add to existing skin problems; electrolysis
also makes your skin feel and look smoother. Electrolysis is the
only
logical solution.
Is electrolysis effective on both genders?
Psychologically, permanent hair removal can be beneficial to both
men and
women. The psychological effects on women who feel the embarrassment
and
unfeminine experience of shaving their faces can be resolved by the
use of
electrolysis. In other cases some women feel self-conscious when
their
facial hair can be noticed by others. Electrolysis is also beneficial
for
men. Some men are embarrassed to take off their shirts because of
the hair
on their back. Other men like to have their neck treated because
buttoned
shirts and ties tend to irritate their neck and cause ingrown hairs.
In all
these cases as your hair problem diminishes, you will become more
confident
and feel better about yourself overall.
Is the treatment painful?
Certain areas of the body are more sensitive to treatment than others
therefore the sensations may vary. Generally speaking, most people
find they
can tolerate the treatment easily. However many women find they are
much
more sensitive during the week before their menstrual cycle. It is
important
to keep your skin hydrated by drinking plenty of water.
How long does it take to achieve permanent results?
A routine maintenance program of scheduled treatments over a period
of time
is necessary to achieve permanent results, this will vary with each
individual relation to the area being treated. Hormonal changes,
medications
ingested, prior use of temporary methods (such as tweezing and waxing)
will
also affect the length of total treatment time necessary.
Is Electrolysis safe?
Electrolysis has a 120 year history of safety and effectiveness.
There has
never been one case of significant disease being caused or transmitted
because of electrolysis.
On the importance of proper sterilization
As health care professionals, electrologists remain committed to
assuring
the health and safety of their patients. We electrologists maintain
the
highest possible standards for the sterilization of all surfaces
and
instruments used in our practice as mandated by the Center of Disease
Control.
The use of pre-sterilized disposable electrolysis needles remains
the only
foolproof way to deliver safe sterile treatments. We use only pre-sterilized
disposable needles to assure your safety.
Autoclaves and dry heat sterilization remain the only sterilization
devices
safe enough to be recommended for use by all health care professionals,
including electrologists.
To assure safety in infection control, this office practices the
highest
standards of sterilization with the use of gloves and masks for the
patient's protection.
How will it affect my skin in general?
The skin's condition after a series of treatments improves dramatically
as
you may know hair can be a contributing factor to increased acne. Stimulation
of hair growth may cause stimulation of sebaceous glands (oil glands)
which are connected tot he hair follicles. Stimulation of these
glands can cause excessive oil production, thereby causing acne. The
reverse may also be true. The increased activity of these oil
glands due to hormonal or environmental changes may also provoke
the growth of hair. As a client you would no longer be able
to tamper with your hair ( a requirement for successful treatments)
and the application of current actually heals and promotes healthy
skin. Not only will you be happy with your improved skin condition,
but also with the fact your hair problem will diminish. Repeated
treatments are necessary to ensure that each hair follicle is treated. Treatments
become less frequent and eventually hair growth will no longer be
a problem.
If you choose electrolysis or laser hair removal
as a solution to your hair problem, it will change your life in a
positive way. Your investment will pay for itself in confidence,
an improved appearance and self-satisfaction.
